“If I Were a Sandwich” is 28 page collection of short comics that straddle the boundary between memoir and surrealist fantasy. It is a jumble of moments from 2022-2023 when my newborn was diagnosed with bilateral hearing loss and at the same time my dad had to undergo major heart surgery, throwing me suddenly into the Sandwich Generation. It was a difficult, beautiful, transformative time, and occasionally absurdly funny. “If I Were a Sandwich” is an attempt to capture some of that experience.
